Ayurveda is a time-tested ancient wellness system that’s based on the elements of nature. It invites us to look thoroughly at our nutrition, daily routines, yoga and exercise habits to understand what is working and what needs to go. 

It’s a system that requires awareness, attention and a dash of devotion. After all, it does take a little work to consistently feel aligned and well. This dynamic and complex system provides so much insight into how to live a healthy and happy life. 

Understanding the Doshas

To begin your Ayurvedic journey you need to understand and work with your dosha.

The doshas are a reflection of Prakriti: how our doshas work together in us is how we manifest our dharma in this life. In Ayurveda, there are five elements that are found in all living things—ether, air, fire, water, and earth—and they are the building blocks of life. 

There are three doshas at work in every human being: 

  1. Kapha [earth + water]

  2. Pitta [fire + water]

  3. Vata [air + ether]

How these three doshas work together in each of us is a manifestation of our basic nature and determines our physical constitution. Knowing your dosha can help you live a healthier, more balanced life.

In my very personal experience, Ayurveda is the answer to feeling good in mind, body, and heart. It’s the antidote to modern-day messiness and the platform for modern women to THRIVE.
